C is for Cookie, L is for Love

When it snowed right before Valentine's Day, Madelyn and I were home alone while Jonathan was out working. So, since she and I were getting a little tired of sitting around the house, and I'm not afraid of driving in snow (thanks to having lived in the upper Midwest) we headed to the local grocery store for a few things - namely COOKIE DOUGH!

I had some sprinkles left from last year {do those things expire???} We decided to make some yummy cookies for all of us to munch on before we went out of town for the weekend.

She got the hang of it pretty fast. She pressed the tops in the sprinkles and I rolled the edges in the same sprinkle mixture.

A close-up of our hard work...

She and I really had so much fun. There's nothing quite like a little "Mommy and Me" time. {Do you see the snow in the windows back there?}

The finished product. She was super-excited to see them come out of the oven. And they were sooooo tasty! We'll have to do more baking together!

Snow Day

Who would have thought that a forecast two days ago that predicted 1-3 inches of snow would bring 7+ inches? In TEXAS?! And, in case you're wondering...it's STILL snowing outside right now!

My favorite - BIG, fluffy flakes!

Madelyn wasn't quite sure what to think. You would figure she's an expert in snow now with all that we've had down here this winter, but she still looks so confused.

She walked around. Laughed at me while I shoveled the driveway. Slipped and fell a couple of times. But she got right back up and kept going.

I made her a snowball. She thought this was the greatest thing EVER.

She examined it carefully. Never licked it. Just protected it as if it were very fragile.

She carried it everywhere and when it came time to go inside, left it amongst the piles of shoveled snow and waved goodbye.

Holding court

Madelyn loves to talk to all of her friends these days. It's a secret language that only they know. This weeknd she was found sitting in the corner of her crib talking away to Big Bird. Which was nice, because it meant we got to sleep an extra hour. Still not sure how long she was at it. She also likes stickers. We have some valentine heart stickers and she wanted to put them all over Domo. And, when I wasn't looking and trying to take pictures - she stuck one on my booty. You can't make this stuff up!
